Virginia Summer Camp is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities. We want every parent in Central Virginia to be able to find our resources, read our stories, and connect with local businesses, regardless of how they access the web.
We are working toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
We are partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of our content do not yet fully meet the standard. We are actively working on it.
Our digital magazine editions and flipbooks are page-image based and are not currently screen reader accessible. If you would like the content of any article from a print or digital edition in an accessible format, contact us and we will provide it.
Some older articles may contain images with missing or incomplete alternative text. We are reviewing and correcting our image library on an ongoing basis.
Some third-party content, including advertisements, embedded social media feeds, and event listings submitted by outside organizations, may not fully meet our accessibility standards. We ask our partners to supply accessible materials and we are updating our advertiser specifications accordingly.
We test our site with automated accessibility tools and manual keyboard testing. We are correcting alternative text across our image library, improving heading structure, verifying color contrast, and reviewing our forms and navigation. We include accessibility in our review process for new features.
